Clean Up Dive

Four times a year, we organize a Quarterly Clean Up Dive in which we eliminate as much trash from the reef as possible. We do all this with the help of dozens of volunteers. Both divers and non-divers are welcome to join as we also count and categorize the collected debris. We upload the data to the Dive Against Debris database which is part of the PADI AWARE Foundation.

As the day of the event winds down, we invite all participants to a tasty BBQ at our Hamlet Oasis location. All volunteers have the opportunity to participate in a raffle, generously sponsored by our partners, with the chance to win fantastic prizes.

Together, we will clean the ocean and reef at a dive site that will be determined.

Tanks will be provided for free to all volunteers, and the day will conclude with a BBQ at Hamlet and a raffle with amazing prizes for all participants.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗘?

To ensure that we can all continue to enjoy the magnificent underwater world, we must take steps to protect coral reefs, fish populations, and habitat.

One of the things Dive Friends Bonaire does in this regard is organize clean-up dives with volunteers. We host four Quarterly Clean Up Dives each year, in addition to monthly clean ups of our house reefs, which we adopted through PADI AWARE’s “Adopt The Blue” program.

You can help by joining us in our efforts to keep the water around Bonaire clean.

Are you not a diver (yet)? Don’t worry, you can still contribute! Non-divers are also needed to help with counting and logging the items removed from the water for PADI Project AWARE Dive Against Debris.
