Day 1: Arrival on Bonaire – check into Delfins Beach Resort, collect your rental truck

Day 2: Complete your Recreational Avelo Diver (RAD) course with our certified instructor

Day 3: Go on your guided Avelo dives and explore the reefs

Day 4–7: Dive at your own pace using Avelo gear and hydrotanks

Day 8: Return gear and vehicle, check out relaxed and refreshed

What does the course include?

Online training (1-2 hours)

Our course builds on concepts you are familiar with from your open water theory and expands on topics that are relevant to Avelo and apply to divers at any level.

When completed, choose any of our dive centers to complete your water session. From the moment you successfully complete the theory session, you will have 90 days to complete the in-water component. You can extend the 90-day limit by retaking the quizzes to ensure you are still familiar with all Avelo concepts.

In-water session (2 dives)

Complete two dives with an Avelo-certified instructor where you will practice the skills necessary to dive with the Avelo system safely. Your instructor will complete the certification process once all standards are met.

Earn your certification

Once you complete your course, you will receive a digital certification that you can save to your phone or link to anywhere in the world.

Any Avelo Dive Center can locate your certification. Avelo will continue to become available in more destinations.

After completing your Avelo certification, you can explore the beauty of Bonaire’s shore diving. Embrace the convenience of lightweight dive gear, the ability to stroll effortlessly on Bonaire’s rocky beaches, and even dive at 1,000 Steps while wearing lightweight equipment. Your instructor will ensure you feel secure and well-supported during your dives as you familiarize yourself with this innovative system and feel the freedom of diving Avelo.

Whether you’re a seasoned diver or a newcomer to the underwater world, Bonaire’s shore diving experience, enhanced by your Avelo certification, promises an unforgettable journey filled with discovery, relaxation, and a deep appreciation for the wonders of the sea.

Note: If you haven’t been diving within the past 12 months, a half day quick refresher course is required before starting the RAD course. This ensures your safety and aligns with Dive Friends Bonaire and Avelo training policies. The refresher course is $120 including all gear and tanks.
